Red Studio is an artist owned art gallery dedicated to the promotion of national and international interdisciplinary artists.
Our art exhibitions always focus on celebrating our differences. We acknowledge the artistic contributions of under-recognized sectors of the population.
Our mission is to foster creativity and art excellence and provide space to upcoming and established artists. Our vision is to be the voice of people with artistic vision in a multidiscipline environment including professional and leisure artists. All successful artists start somewhere!
How we use our commercial gallery space:
• 40% High and mid-career professional artists
• 40% MFA graduates and university professors
• 20% Leisure artists
Founder Shara Banisadr is an interdisciplinary international artist who works in several areas, as opposed to a more traditional artist who works in only one medium. She is artistic director of Red Studio, a visual artist, an exhibition organizer, teach at Montgomery College in The School of Art + Design, as well as a teaching artist at Guy Mason Art Center.
What does Interdisciplinary Arts mean?
Look in any art or cultural history textbooks and you will probably not find an entry for Interdisciplinary Arts, yet interdisciplinary arts are hardly new. You only need to think of the artist-scientist Leonardo da Vinci, the poet-printmaker-mystic William Blake, or the poet-painter-designer-socialist William Morris to find examples of venerated artists of the past whose interests spanned various modes of thought and expression.
Volunteer Opportunities
We have many areas you can put your volunteerism to good use.
Exhibitions/Events
We can always use a hand putting on our exhibitions, and certainly need a few extra hands when putting on off-site events. Contact the Red Studio office to see where you can help!
Office Work
There are many office duties which we could use your help. From assembling newsletters, filing, to simply manning the gallery, let us know your area off expertise.
Web Savvy?
We always could use creative people to help create banners, assemble slideshows, and help with the regular updates. We also may need assistance with our e-mail communications, including the BAG Buzz.
